What surprises me is how people outside of the business take this for granted for any other sort of relationship they have. Your father may do something at work, but it isn’t like he doesn’t have outside interests and hobbies. In fact, most people would rather not have anything to do with their job when they’re off the clock.
I suppose what intrigues people the most about us is how public they are about something most people rarely talk about. Even when they do talk about it, it’s rarely serious and usually framed as a joke. The rationale, I guess, is that if you’re willing to have sex on camera, that must be everything you are and everything you will be.
It’s not true.
Someone I’ve known for seven years, Simone Jude, is in the midst of shooting a documentary about the lives of Kink regulars Princess Donna, Lorelei Lee and Isis Love. The movie won’t just be about their lives in front of the camera — a topic that’s been beaten to death and then some — but it also follows them in their personal lives when they’re balancing one part of their personality with the other that never sees the light of a set.
The completion of the project is being funded through Kickstarter.com, a site that brings small investors to projects that range from crazy new ideas for iPhone cases and creative projects like Simone’s documentary.
